Since ROS 2 Bouncy, `colcon` is the build tool of choice for ROS 2. It not only supports all targeted platforms including Windows, but by now also works for ROS 1, Gazebo, Ignition, and other projects. This talk will shed some light into what `colcon` does, how it works and how you can utilize the tool to optimize your workflow.
