EMAP 2019: Margherita Pevere

2019. godine KONTEJNER | biro suvremene umjetničke prakse ugostio je umjetnicu Margheritu Pevere u sklopu rezidencijalnog projekta #EMAP (European Media Art Platform) tijekom kojeg je realizirala rad Utrobe.

Rad Utrobe promatra tijelo kao biokemijskog kiborga: hormonska kontracepcija regulira ljudske spolne organe na način da sprječava trudnoću, čime postaje sastavni dio umjetničine seksualnosti.Puževi su hermafroditski saveznici u istraživanju unutarnjih i vanjskih ekologija utjelovljene želje. U instalaciji, namjenski izrađeni izvantjelesni organ ugošćuje dvije stanične kulture u hibridnom ekosustavu. Umjetničine vaginalne epitelne stanice i stanice jajašca puža dijele medij za rast, komuniciraju kemijski te izvode ples dvaju organizama na staničnoj razini.

In 2019 we have hosted artist Margherita Pevere within the residential project European Media Art Platform. During the residency, Pevere realized her work Wombs.

Wombs investigates the body as a biochemical cyborg: hormonal contraceptives modulate human sexual organs to prevent pregnancy, thus accompanying the artist's sexuality. Slugs are hermaphroditic allies in the exploration of inner and outer ecologies of fleshy desire. In the installation, a custom-made extra-bodily organ hosts two cell cultures in a hybrid ecosystem. My own vaginal epithelial cells and slug egg cell share growth medium, communicate chemically through it, and stage a dance of the two organisms at a cellular level.
