The Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation was established on 2 March 1961. On occasion of its 50th anniversary, a roundtable debate is held at the Uppsala University Main Hall. Leading international policy makers and civil servants broach some of the most pressing challenges which today confront the international community. Issues discussed are at the intersection of security politics and social and economic development.
The four main speakers were be Martti Ahtisaari, Lakhdar Brahimi, Francis Deng and Jan Eliasson, all previous presenters of the annual Dag Hammarskjöld Lecture. Discussants were Lena Ag (Kvinna till Kvinna), Angela Ndinga-Muvumba (Dept. for Peace and Conflict Research) and Marie Tuma (Raoul Wallenberg Institute).
