This year marked the 4th edition of the New Dimensions AR/VR Lab in Cape Town, South Africa.
Ten creatives from the continent (Nigeria, Sudan, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya and Ghana) were selected to take part in the Lab. Joining them were industry professionals: Gareth Steele and Rick Treweek (Eden/South Africa), Brian Afande & Isa Mohamed (Black Rhino VR/ Kenya), Nyasha Kadandara (Director, Le Lac/ Zimbabwe), Lauren Beukes (Author/South Africa), Sarah Ellis (Royal Shakespeare Company/ UK) and Saschka Unseld (Pixar/ Germany).
For the second year, Electric South brought together a phenomenal group of experts, thinkers, movers and shakers, futurists and creators who are pushing the boundaries of the emerging media space, to take part in the Immersive Africa summit. The summit took place during the Lab.
Amoung the industry leaders who joined the summit this year was Dr Tegan Bristow (Fak’ugesi Digital Innovation/South Africa) and Haytham Nawar (Cairotronica/Egypt), Oulimata Gueye(Digital Imaginaries/) Judith Okonkwo (Imisi 3D/ Nigeria), Cara Mertes, Margaret Milwa, Belinda Ochiel (Ford Foundation/USA), Trevor Snapp (Journalist/USA), Jepchumba (African Digital Art & Future Lab Africa), and Amy Seidenwurm (Oculus VR for Good)
