Interview with Lonnie van Brummelen & Siebren De Haan about their 'KeyNote' exhibit at the 7th Shanghai Biennale, 2008.
Lonnie van Brummelen and Siebren de Haan were invited to the 7th Shanghai Biennale as part of a small group of Keynote artists, who reflect in their work on issues of mobility related to urban economic and social circumstances.
Since 2001 Lonnie van Brummelen and Siebren De Haan have collaborated on thought-provoking site-specific projects and essays. Using the medium film, the artists negotiate frontiers and explore how borders determine the landscape in economic, political and cultural sense. For Shanghai, a retrospective of past films and a new work produced for this biennale were shown:
New work for China (2008)
Monuments of Sugar, How to Use Artistic Means to Elude Trade Barriers (2007)
Grossraum, The Formal Trajectory (Borders of Europe) (2005)
