My friend and landlord Jason Pearce asked me to make a video to promote the Modified Sedans division of speedway racing. Having speedway in my blood from my dad who raced Sprint Cars from before I was born till when I was around 8, I was all too excited for the new challenge. I worshipped my dad's speedway VHS' as a kid, and was stoked to finally be able to make my own.
I filmed two meets - The "Margaret River Masters" and the "Collie Cup", and put together a compilation of footage from the races and the hard work and preparation that goes into being a speedway driver. Both weekends were a blast. Long drives, intense races, meeting new people and all the in betweens.
I'd also like to jump on this chance to congratulate Jason on multiple accomplishments last night (which was also the final meet of the year) -
2nd Place in Heat 1.
1st Place in Heat 2.
3rd Place in Heat 3.
1st Place in the "Collie Cup" Feature Race.
And he also took the 2011/2012 WA Modified Sedan Championship Title.
Jason has been racing sedans for (if I heard correctly), 22 years. And this was the year he finally celebrated his first and well deserved Championship Series. Very happy I was there to see it.
