A quick demo showcasing the GigaShader Plugin for Cinema 4D by Paul Everett:
It could be pretty interesting for matte paintings or when you need accurate geometry from geodata sources such as SRTM (Scanned Radar Topography Mission) on which you can apply actual satellite tiles (works the same as google earth) but you can render the stuff out.
