Sediment transport and morphology in numerical models, depend strongly on the transverse bedslope effect. This is the downslope slip-sliding motion of particles on the bed surface. Parameters related to this effect are often used to calibrate models, but this should only be done with care! The setting of the transverse bedslope parameter should be dependent on the function of the model.
