Leon McCarron is a Northern Irish adventurer, author and filmmaker. His expeditions include trekking 3000 miles across China, riding a bicycle 14,000 miles from New York to Hong Kong and walking 1000 miles through the Middle East. Other adventures include a 1000 mile journey across the Empty Quarter desert with fellow adventurer Alastair Humphreys (their feature-length film Into The Empty Quarter was a finalist at the Banff Mountain Film Festival) and an expedition on horseback through Patagonia with filmmaker Tom Allen. His presenting credits include 'Dufferin: Adventures in High Latitudes' (BBC NI), 'Walking Home from Mongolia' (Nat Geo), 'How To Save A Tribe' (Real Stories) and several appearances on 'From Our Own Correspondent' (BBC Radio 4).
Leon has been the recipient of the RGS's prestigious Neville Shulman Challenge Award and his latest book The Land Beyond was shortlisted for the Adventure Travel Book of the Year Award. The paperback edition will be published by Bloomsbury in August 2020.
