A short film directed by Matthew J Watkins featuring Lucy McLauchlan's improvised painting process and the harvesting of urban detritus. Tacit was filmed between locations in Birmingham and Walsall Art Gallery.
The soundtrack was improvised and recorded by McLauchlan and Watkins using a circuit bent broken radio and a 'prepared' piano; modified using found objects (including screws, bolts, erasers and ornaments) and played 'after hours' in the reception of Birmingham's Custard Factory.
Didn't have a video camera so everything was shot in stills.
'Tacit' received a special mention at the Babelgum Metropolis Art Prize in New York 2009 and was shown on a big screen in Times Square.
Thanks to Rich Coldicott for helping with the photography.
