Wanted to design a camera slider, but didn't know what length I wanted to start with. I originally thought I would need something as long as 3 feet.
So I mocked up an ugly camera slider using cabinet rails, just so I can have an idea of what type of footage I can get related to sliding distance. (No i'm not planning on taking this out in the field, that's embarassing!)
I have only about 12 inches of travel , but the effects are pretty good for just 12 inches. I would say 2-3 feet of sliding rail would be a great portable solution if you don't want to lug around a complete dolly track. I'm off in search of my Linear Guide Rails on eBay now. Linear Guide Rails are the exact same equipment used on expensive sliders sold in stores. Turns out some just buy the Linear Guide rail and slap their sticker on it.
