Albert Jané was born in “El Vendrell”, in the heart of Penedes. His family, Jané Ventura, has been in the wine business since 1914.
Albert worked at the family winery until he was 33 years old. It was then that he fell in love with the rugged landscape of varied terroirs, ancient vineyards and the potential of Monsant. Albert decided to leave the security of the family business and start his own adventure, Acustic Cellers.
In 2003, Albert started buying very old vineyards around DO Montsant and he produced his first wine in 2004, “Acústic”, which gives the name to his cellar. Albert works with vineyards from many different locations in Montsant, looking for the complexity of the terroir and the different expressions gained through elevation and exposition.
Acústic for “unplugged”, as an acustic concert, pure in the most strict way. Albert is looking for the expression of the terroir and the highest expression of the fruit in the form of wine. He firmly believes that the wine is made in the vineyard.
His Philosophy: “doing the minimum to get the maximum”
All the Acústic wines are made with the indigenous varieties of the Region: Garnatxa, Samsó (Cariñena), White Garnatxa, Pink Garnatxa, Pansal and Macabeo from vineyards that range in age from 40 to 100 years old. The old wisdom of the plants that Albert grows gives an amazing nectar of fruitness. These old bush vines are hand harvested and the grapes are sorted both in the vineyard and at the winery, in order to select only the best fruits for the wines of Acustic Cellers.
Through fermentation using natural yeasts and a cautious use of French oak, the wines of Acustic show the incredible fruit, power and terroir of the region. The barrels used to age the wines are just to help the wines achieve maturity without hiding the character of the grapes from which they have been made.
