California recently secured a waiver from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to redesign parts of their Medi-Cal program and to expand coverage for the uninsured prior to 2014. Dr. Roby will explore the changes occurring in the state as a result of the waiver, including the California Children's Services pilot programs, the Low-Income Health Programs being developed by counties and health authorities, and the transition of elderly and disabled Medi-Cal patients into managed care plans.
Dylan H. Roby, PhD, is an assistant professor of Health Services in the UCLA Jonathan and Karin Fielding School of Public Health and a research scientist with the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research. His research interests include health care affordability, access to care for the uninsured, impacts of managed care, use of safety net providers and the effectiveness of disease management programs.
