Rosalyn Lila Brodsky, my mom will live forever in this video where she hits a home run in her renaissance explanation of why 3 Diesel Fuel Power Plants are not needed or wanted in the 21st Century
Shortly after Bush was selected by the Supreme Court there was an attempt by Fossil Fuel companies to seize the opportunity to build endless fossil fuel power plants across the country and run gaslines from the Bahamas into pristine communities in South Florida and elsewhere. Even though the citizens were overpowered by government and corporate greed they valiantly fought back as true Davids vs. Goliaths. Many on the Commission would have voted in favor of the Enron Power plants because they were promised all these jobs and new tax revenue, had it not been for the public outcry displayed at this meeting.
Rosalyn was filibustering the Commission at 3 am in the morning after sitting there for hours with the Enron Lawyers monopolizing the conversation and putting down the credentials of hundreds of citizens from Pompano Beach, Coconut Creek, Deerfield, and Boca. No-one could have been more inspired, and refreshing in her references and anecdotes
I introduced my mom to a series called "Living Planet" which I recorded for her and she played over and over again. She brought this video to many of her citizen groups which she was in charge of. I gave her printouts of information I had researched regarding alternative fuels and the Kyoto Treaty which the US was refusing to join, etc. I believed she was the best person to speak on this issue, because of her delightful, enthusiastic way of presenting ideas. Rosalyn was beloved in her community of Wynmoor in Coconut Creek and as I expected WOWed and hit a home run for the people of South Florida that night. Hopefully, this video and Rosalyn will live forever when they see her indominable spirit against great odds.
Shortly after my mom died on Oct. 4, 2011, she was 90 years young born July 1, 1921. I contacted the City of Pompano Beach to see if this video could be retrieved somehow from some archive. It was a miracle that after much research the City was able to find it and made me the whole set as this meeting lasted for hours. My son, her beloved Grandson and soul mate was able to edit her segment and suggested to me that I upload it to Vimeo as the file is very large.
My mom wanted a copy of this video as she enjoyed remembering her story about walking with her neighbor Ruth and looking up at the stars at night.
Here's to You Mom! No-one can tell a story like you could.
All My Love...... Your Daughter
