ABC Good Morning Texas featuring Dr Knapp & Dr Tavakoli
In an interview with ABC affiliate WFAA’s Good Morning Texas in Dallas, Texas, Dr. Knapp at Foot and Ankle Center of Frisco shares that traditional 2D bunion surgery “doesn’t address the root cause of the problem: the mid-foot joint” and that a major problem with this type of surgery is recurrence. “About 70% of the patients who have traditional 2D bunion surgery have bunion recurrence.” 1 And, that an advantage of Lapiplasty® 3D Bunion Correction™ is that “we use titanium plates that are stiff and resilient and allows patients to be early weight-bearing after surgery.” 2
When asked about recovery time, Dr. Mojgan Tavakoli, also at Foot and Ankle Center of Frisco, shares patients can be “weight-bearing as early as two weeks in a protective boot, return to comfortable shoes in six weeks, and start running and performing exercises that they like.” She also notes that the Lapiplasty® Procedure is covered by most insurances, as well as Medicare.”
