ABC3340 reports on a story about an Alabama family who, in 2005, adopted a young girl from Ukraine. Cris and Karen Mahy shares about the experiences of adopting their daughter, Karina, and the challenges of the logistical process. Alabama law presently requires re-adoption to give the family the benefit of Birth Certificates, etc... Senator Phil Williams submitted a bill to the Alabama State Senate that could change this law. It is called "Karina's Law" named after Karina Mahy. Since adopting, the Mahy's have created a ministry that helps and cares for Ukrainian orphan children called Mercy's Hope.
