‘if a bee falls in a forest’ is an immersive collaborative study between sound artist Daniel Lercher (AT), choreographer/visual artist Asher O’Gorman (AT/IE/UK) and dance maker/practitioner Tara Silverthorn (UK/CH). The work Revisits ideas of ‘Ancient Druidism’ in order to highlight the much needed reestablishment of our relationship as humans to the natural world and our environment. The Trio arrange enchanted realms of the visual and audio inspired by naturally occurring optical and audible phenomena. They elevate satisfying sounds, weave movement and conjure visual image; opening an opportunity for a sound artist to create a visual image, a visual artist to create a soundspace and for all to inhabit/create a natural science choreography. The work’s movements and soundscapes arise from physical contact and haptic interaction with found objects and sculptures, stemming from a human desire to ‘hear’ them as they sound and move. Movement produces sound and sound vibrations produce movements. The performers and objects move together with a particular attentive involvement based on an experiential understanding of ‘Object Oriented Ontology’.
