Parenting can be difficult! One day we may see it as a privilege, and the next as a pain. How has the gospel affected the way you view and do parenting? What is the purpose of parenting? Proverbs 22:6 reads, "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it." As followers of Jesus, our goal is to train our children in the way of the Lord. This training doesn't just happen. We must be intentional here and do it with the goal of seeing our children walking with the Lord. If we have received the gospel we must be committed to giving it to our children and praying that the Spirit would apply it to their hearts. It is my prayer that the gospel would challenge and transform the way we view and do parenting. Parents, be committed to praying for your children and one another, namely that the Word would guide how we think about and do parenting. Lastly, may all of us be encouraged by Paul's words in 1 Corinthians 3:6 where he writes, "I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth." Parents, let us be found faithful in planting and watering--sowing gospel seeds in the lives of our children and praying--and trusting God to give the growth.
