This video was produced to assist in obtaining completion funding to publish and exhibit the photographic documentary about American Photographers of Jewish Ancestry by Penny Wolin. Over a five year period, photographer Penny Wolin interviewed and photographed 70 accomplished photographers of Jewish Ancestry, including Annie Leibovitz, Robert Frank, Arnold Newman, Larry Fink, Lauren Greenfield, Helen Levitt, John Loengard, Norman Mauskopf and a host of others. Interviews were conducted with close relatives of Roman Vishniac, Philippe Halsman, Garry Winogrand, Nickolas Muray and others. The project follows the time line of the history of photography, which is parallel to the history of the largest migration of Jews to America. Wolin's method is to make a portrait of each photographer, collect each photographers' favorite historic ancestral family photographs, and obtain a sample of originally made photography from each artist. The work is a monumental achievement in documenting Jewish culture in America set within the scene of Jewish involvement in American photography.
