Scripture reading and sermon are from Numbers 21:4-9. The Israelite people grumbled and complained against God, so the Lord sent poisonous snakes among the people. The people realized their sin and were sorry. They asked Moses to pray for them. God had Moses make a bronze snake and lift it up on a pole, and He attached the promise that all who looked at the snake would live. This promise is beautiful because it is free and it is for all! Jesus says that the snake which was lifted up was a picture of Him. He too was lifted up, when He died on the cross to pay for the sins of the world. All who look to Him in faith, all who believe in Him, live! The life that He gives is free and it is for all!
