Bringing evidence-based health promotion and disease prevention programs to millions of older adults will require funding and support at many levels—including from Congress. Although today’s tight federal budget environment makes it difficult to find funding for discretionary programs, NCOA continues to fight for appropriations to support evidence-based self-care management programs. We can’t do it without an engaged Aging Network!
The President has released his Fiscal Year 2013 budget and Congress will soon determine appropriations. During this webinar we will highlight the federal policy opportunities and potential barriers to securing federal funding. We’ll explain the difference between advocacy and lobbying to help you effectively participate in influencing the appropriations process. We’ll introduce resources to help Aging Network partners educate policymakers about evidence-based programs. Together we can ensure that funding for these critical programs continues so we can impact the lives of those who need it most – vulnerable seniors.
