Stussy Womens has collaborated with acclaimed Japanese artist Hiroshi Tanabe for a series of graphic tees for Spring/Summer 2012. Tanabe was born in Kanagawa and studied fine art and sculpture at Tama Art College and the Accademia Di Brella in Milan. With linework and a graphic style that draws influence from traditional Japanese woodcuts, Tanabe’s work is epitomized by a marriage of old-world beauty and a modern sparseness. Tanabe has exhibited work internationally and has been commissioned by a veritable who’s who list of power players in the worlds of fashion and style like Anna Sui, Shiseido, The New York Times, The New Yorker, Le Sportsac, British Vogue, Barney’s New York, Sony and Harper’s Bazaar.
