Through a simple card game, Permutations documents the way that memory alters the past. I lay out rows of cards, memorize the arrangement then remove the cards and try to replicate the initial layout. At first the variations are small, but after five rounds the subtle differences accrue and the final card configuration is almost entirely different from the original.
The music is an aural representation of theta brainwaves, created with a “music painting” program. Theta brainwaves are said to be active during the formation and recollection of memories.
