We are Wouter Kalis and Corinne de Korver.
We are Social-Unit, an Amsterdam-based design studio.
Our work solves problems and improves situations.
Our aim is to produce simple, smart and positive designs that incorporate recycled materials and contribute to social employment projects.
Our first product is a sustainable bed unit for homeless shelters. It combines a bed and storage on 3 m2. It is designed for the Salvation Army. Made out of recycled plastics, bottle caps and beer crates. It is produced by people between a rock and a hard place in social workshops.
We will present the design at the Salone del Mobile, a prestigious furniture fair in Milan, Italy in April this year. To gather enough funds for this, we have started a crowdfunding campaign at voordekunst.nl (search under Social-Unit). Any support is very welcome!
Our first customer is the Salvation Army. See our website for more information: social-unit.com
