This is a continuation of the funnel plunger video. The child is holding the neck of the funnel with her fingers. Her eyes tell us that her attention is drawn to something else going on in the room. As she attends to that something else, her index finger nonchalantly slides up the neck of the funnel until it finds the small hole at the bottom of the funnel. The tip of her index finger fits perfectly in the hole, so much so that it actually plugged the hole. She latched on to the neck of the funnel with the rest of her fingers. She started to pull the funnel out of the water. She realizes something there is a resistance as she pulls on the funnel. He eyes re-focus on her plunging action. By covering the hole with her finger, she has created a vacuum so when she pulls up on the funnel, she also lifts some water up from the bowl. She continues to lift until the water drops from the funnel back into the bowl. With her index finger still over the hole, she plunges the funnel back down into the water. Because air cannot escape through the hole, it displaces the water in the bowl. The funnel wants to slide from side-to-side making it harder for her to push the funnel all the way to the bottom of the bowl.
