"Canadian Klein", "Vanishing Act" and "Hide" constitute a series of 1 minute performance-for-video works that examines the female form as problematic gendered site. The figure is at once melded with—in the play with invisibility and in the act of hiding in—her natural setting and thus playing into the trope of femininity as intrinsically tied to and at home in nature. Challenging this idea is a violent undercurrent in the works. This is witnessed in the endurance of pain—in pushing through, baring and resisting the elements with an exposed, naked body. This endurance is coupled with an uncomfortable awareness of implicating the viewer in a kind of staged and theatrical voyeurism.
