The conception of 'nothing' has played a crucial role in the development of logic, mathematics, physics, philosophy and theology. This lecture looked at how these currents have led to the modern picture of the 'vacuum' in quantum physics and how its non-uniqueness and changeability lie at the root of our modern picture of the universe.
