Hiking the Poamoho Ridge trail on Oahu, Hawaii on April 1st, 2012. The Poamoho Ridge trail is a state trail maintained by Na Ala Hele. A permit is required to hike the trail. The route gradually gains elevation to the Ko'olau summit for a little over three miles, passing many native Hawaiian plants, and even rare native Hawaiian tree snails en route. From the summit are spectacular views of Punalu'u Valley, Kahana Valley, the windward coastline, and the Pacific Ocean.
