This one started when I found out that Deep Throat was classed as Public Domain. As soon as I found that out I decided that it was a movie that needed to be vid for the project. But I knew that there would be some restraints. For one, I wouldn't be able to show any of the seedier scenes. There would be only the clean stuff.
It's a shorter than average movie clocking in at only 61 minutes. And being a sex movie there was definitely a lot that I couldn't use. In fact there were some characters that had not real "clean shots" available. But I figured I clipped enough for some title shots.
For the music it was another long search on audionetwork. I found it much more difficult to find appropriate music for this one than for any vid before. I checked out many different styles, production venues, and moods. All seemed to have decent music for the vid but nothing that felt like it right well. All told I spent over a week searching about one to two hours each night. But still hadn't found what I wanted.
After determining that finding good closeups of all the people was nye impossible I thought it was going to be a dead project. But then looking back at the clips I noticed I had one of Linda walking into a motel complex. And that clip was over one minute long. Clips like that are virtually unheard of. And to top it off there was absolutely no talking. That made it an even more rare find. So that was it, I was using the long walking clip.
While still trying to find the music I decided to work on the titles. Since I was using one clip of Linda walking that meant that the credits would be superimposed over Linda. And that also meant that I could include everyone I wanted even if I didn't have a good clip of them. I tried a variety of effects n the text but finally decided on a fairly simple in/out style called breeze. Initially they all breeze in/out the same but before the final is exported I need to generate separate random seeds for each credit.
I knew I wanted something that sounded like it was from that era. Light, but a bit jazzy. So that's where I concentrated my search. After another couple days I had finally come across the song, "Jazz Bugaloo". It had enough of what I was looking for so I decided to quit looking. Sometimes I do that when searching for music. There could be something better out there but I'm just too tired to look anymore.
I had a thought about putting up a little titlecard talking about sex therapists. I'd have it type in with the clicking in the background. when it was finished a sound bounced into my head. The dun-dun sound from Law & Order. I put the sound in and it was nice but wrong. This needed something else. I went back to SoundBible and looked for a more comical sound. I found a cartoon boing. That just seemed to go so much better.
