This is a Photo Story about relation between Betawi people, religion, and its art and tradition, especially Silat Betawi. How their adherence to the philosophy of mastering martial arts guide the life of Betawi people.
One of the identity of the Betawi people are martial arts and lenong. Arts is preserved in the villages scattered across Betawi Batavia. While other small groups survive by selling the Betawi arts and lenong show. They earns living from performing in various community events, such as marriage, fairs, exhibitions, etc.. Without significant support from the government, they try to maintain their identity. By adhering to the tradition and religion, they tried to make the world wonder, in the spirit of "Salat, Silat, Salut" (Pray, Martial Arts, Salut)
