Has it really been two years since we did a show promoting Single Payer Health Care? Well, it's in the news again. The week before we aired this, the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) held hearings about the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act (ACA, often disparagingly referred to as "Obamacare"). Attorneys General for over half the states in the US argued against the "universal mandate" (another code). Most Green Party members feel that the Act did not go far enough, that in fact it did more to preserve for-profit health care than it did to move us toward something like Medicare for all, what we call "Everybody in, nobody out."
Our three guests have promoted Single Payer Health Care for years, and appeared before on our show March 24, 2010 (see archives), right after the passage of the ACA. They are all members of Health Care For All Texas (hcfat.org ): Dr. Christine Adams; Ken Kenegos, R.N.; and Peg Nosek, Ph.D. They also mention favorably Physicians for a National Health Program (pnhp.org ). Hear their thoughts now, two years later, while the struggle continues for Health Care for ALL.
