VISION 2020 is the global initiative for the elimination of avoidable blindness, a joint programme of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) with an international membership of NGOs, professional associations, eye care institutions and corporations.
During January 2012 a group of Opthalmology Specialists , Research Academics and I travelled to Malawi through the LINKS initiative - NHS Lothian, Scotland and the Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) Lilongwe - and undertook five days voluntary work, reviewing, evaluating and treating patients with diabetic retinopathy.
This short account of our journey was filmed by me on a FLIP HD Camera and includes still images taken by members of our team.
