Buddy and his brothers, Brett and Ben, must decide what to get their father for his birthday. At first, they choose something quite expensive and realized that they must use all of the income they’ve received from jobs to pay for it. Brett is saving his money for a bike and Ben is saving for a computer program game system, so each of them would rather not spend their entire income. Eventually, the boys come up with a less expensive idea, and Brett and Ben continue to save.
