Co Presented by Sammie Maitland (SUNY Empire State College student) and Dr. Rhianna C. Rogers (Associate Professor, SUNY Empire State College)
Description by Sammie Maitland:
"We mustn’t let fear extinguish love, doubt drive away hope, uncertainties stifle action, or allow our anxieties to manifest into despair. We are Not Helpless. We are Not Hopeless. We the people of New York State and the Empire State College community must come together in the spirit of service, connectedness, collaboration, and calm. There is work to be done, to support ourselves and to support others during these trying times. We ask you to please get involved with a new movement - Not Helpless, Not Hopeless. We need stewards, leaders, volunteers, and visionaries to bring forth ideas, actions, advocacy, conversations, and connection. The burdens ahead are ones that require community and closeness to cope, even as we practice physical social distancing. We must stand together if only in cyberspace to embrace each other as we help, heal, and deal with the trauma and stress of this crisis. We can organize, motivate, and inspire ourselves and each other. If you are interested in participating in this movement please reach out." *This video was the concept idea for SUNY Empire Connects, inspired by Sammie Maitland's idea and now a program at SUNY Empire State College.
