Parent’s especially during this time we need a handle on dealing with our worry and fear before we can help our
children through theirs. This is something I have been working through and would like to share with you.
Be aware of our thoughts and take each captive…
Our thoughts effect our health MUCH more than you think. Our biggest muscle and worst enemy is our brain. This is
one place Satan attacks us the most. As parents we need to show the example of trusting the Lord as well as model how
to replace our anxious thoughts with thoughts of hope which comes from the word of God.
Here is where most of us go wrong–we believe lies that are easily fed to us in the world so unless we are intentional
about guarding our minds, the lies stay and the truth flees.
When we look at it this way, doesn’t it go about HOW we attack our struggles? There are some great scripture verses
regarding the mind so if this is an area of struggle for you, I’d consider you to memorize these! Questions to ask about
what I am thinking:
Is it true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, praiseworthy? If not, stop and replace the thought with
something that is.
2 Corinthians 10:1-5
As a Christian, we have a filter or checklist, if you will, on why thoughts should be in our mind. Isn’t it just like our God to
equip us to help us out in our struggles?!
We can also make a list of what we are thankful/grateful for and use that to replace a thought as well.
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever
is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.” Philippians
