My friend Liu Xiao (刘晓) plays the ancient Chinese instrument Guzheng (古筝) in my Beijing apartment.
Made with a Canon 5D Mark II and a Zeiss 28mm f2.0 lens. Marantz PMD620 external recorder for sound (placed under the guzheng), and Cineplus picture style.
Filming went on from afternoon till late evening, hence some scenes got natural light; but most scenes are lit up by a big and cheap Chinese lamp of the brand Qihe.
Note to self: When filming music performances, shoot longer and steadier shots if time allows.
I ended up with 40 GB of film, and an outright nightmare task of editing. Playing jigsaw puzzle with picture and sound could have been avoided if taking fewer shoots, but better and longer.
