Anna McCarthy’s current exhibition has been extended indefinitely, however sadly no visitors are allowed into the actual space due to - you guessed it - the Corona virus. The artist therefore, like so many others, sets out to make a mobile phone documentary of the show for social media.
But what does she find after 2 weeks of lockdown? Some kind of tramp seems to have made the gallery space her home. Lo and behold though, it is the artist herself who is lying in her sleeping bag under the stairs. She is currently awaiting state support funding and has nowhere else to go.
Despite the persistent coughing and sneezing in the background, an extensive tour is made of this wonderful exhibition via mobile phone, from manic hikers to mountain materialism and back, there is "something in there for everyone".
And a big bonus to boot: The artist Anna McCarthy will be camped out in the space for quite a while now. If in Munich, sneak a peek through the glass door 24/7 to glimpse a view of her living in the ADVENTURE ROOM show. A “Big Brother Für Arme”, as the Germans have coined it. Be there or be in quarantine.
How long she survives and how long this series continues is as wobbly as any Corona prediction.
Stay tuned.
