It may seem odd or even trivial to be talking about event strategy during a pandemic, but it’s all about planning. We need to look after what we can control, and have a plan for what we can’t. We will get through this and life will go on. Associations that keep putting one foot in front of the other will retain their strength and demonstrate their leadership.
Right now venues are accommodating rescheduling or cancelling events in March-May. But if your event is in the fall, most venues are sticking to their cancellation policy. You may not have the option to cancel or reschedule now, without incurring a killer penalty.
So don’t put your conference committee on the shelf. They’re all busy coping with the current situation but your association needs to be ready. To deliver, or to delay. Either way, you need a plan and a launch-ready conference. Let’s keep the lights on. �
