Desert Crossings takes us on a journey of discovery, tracing shared memories and the earth’s history, revealing timeless stories, universal hopes and dreams.
This cross-cultural performance is a collaboration between UK based producers, State of Emergency and South African choreographer Gregory Maqoma, performed by five dancers, with original score by Steve Marshall.
Inspired by similarities between the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site on England’s south coast and the Skeleton Coast of Namibia, this new work is an exploration of two very different places, united by the history of the rocks on which they stand.
The dancers are Gerrard Martin, Sade Alleyne, Keisha Grant, Lerato Lipere and Carl Harrison. The voices are Tempo O'Neil, Elroy "Spoonface" Powell and Steve Marshall. Film by Barry Lewis and Emil Charlaff.
