This one-hour documentary details the history of the Bruentrup farm in the context of change and development in an inner-tear suburb. The story centers on the community effort to save the farm and create a “Living History” site for the city of Maplewood. This comprehensive documentary uses current interviews as well as historic footage, including city meetings, and archival productions of the Government Television Network. The awareness of this grassroots effort has enriched the civic life of Maplewood. It coalesced interest and participation in the Maplewood Area Historical Society and the Maolewood Historic Preservation Commission. Community response has been very strong. We have received many calls and letters stating the positive effects of this show and the gratitude of the viewers. Many stated that they had no idea that the farm existed. The show has resulted in increased attendance at the farm as well as increased membership in the Historical Society.
