“Cinerum” was a site-specific event and installation created for the Cape Cod National Seashore. A 100 foot-long rope was laid within the crack of a collapsed revetment that had, one month before, supported a beach parking lot. It was cast into the asphalt with plaster and then ripped out by a group of people responding to an invitation to participate in a beach walk and drawing. The group of two dozen people dragged the rope for one mile down the beach. Broken fragments of plaster and asphalt scoured the sand, marking multiple tidelines along the shore. We continued over the breakwater in the Provincetown harbor, and through town to a gallery showing drawings and films about erosion.
