In the film I was working around the idea of systems, we are all part of a system. The three screens influencing each other is meant to be in reference to the systems of the natural world. Human activity has caused the earths temperature to rise, a notion that 97% of scientists agree with has caused a number of disturbances in the system he live in, plants bloom earlier, bugs hatch earlier and the birds and animals that rely on these for sustenance arrive at the wrong times.

The ethereal metallic surface that I was attracted to in photographic work appears again in this work in the roll of mylar. Taking away the horizon line with the mylar and transforming and compressing time are tools that I employed to disorient the viewer.

When I made these, I wanted them to loosely be interpreted as rhythms of human, spirit, and nature. I’m interested in the intersection of religion and ecology how one informs our attitudes about the other. I wanted a meditative quality to the piece, the viewer can choose to stay present in one screen at a time or use their mind to make connections between the screens.
