swc.gsfc.nasa.gov - We introduce our new coronal mass ejection (CME) classification/typification system called SCORE. SCORE indicates the type of the detected CME based on the transient speed. The different SCORE CME types are S, Common (C), Occasional (O), Rare (R) and Extremely Rare (ER) for CMEs with speeds less than 500 km/s, 500-1000 km/s, 1000-2000 km/s, 2000-3000 km/s and greater than 3000 km/s, respectively. SCORE typification is based on the rate of occurrence of CMEs and thus gives the user a quick idea about the likelihood of the observed event.
