melissawest.com In episode 124 of Namaste Yoga we will return to another Ganesh story. In this story Ganesh removes the reckless abandon of the destruction being caused by a son completely distraught over the loss of his Father. In these stories, the Hindu deities represent aspects of ourselves and their behaviour represent how we can sometimes be reckless with ourselves internally at the times when we need to be the most gentle. This story teaches us to be gentle and compassionate with ourselves in our own healing. In the story, Ganesh removes all negativity. In our own lives we can use our own resources including yoga to move emotions through our body. In this class we will use yoga postures such as apanasana, lions breath and mudras to help move toxins, challenging emotions, waste and anything we need to let go of, through our bodies. Yoga postures such as dancer, Goddess, and tiger will offer a fun dramatic re-enactment of the humorous parts of the story and allow us to laugh even in the most difficult times of our lives. This class is dedicated to the loving memory of Namaste Yogi Valeries brother Benjamin Thomas Hein. Poem: I went to the top of the world today, to see what I could find, and all I saw for miles and miles, were things you left behind. Your spirit was high up in the clouds, moving carefree through the sky. Your voice whispered through the leaves, saying sister, dont you cry. The river contained your courage, never knowing when to cease. Even your laughter echoed through a soaring flock of geese. Your strength was in the trees, growing taller every day Your smile was in the sun, beaming down from far away. In the sparrows you left curiosity, always seeming to ask us why. And the hills held your ambition, reaching upwards towards the sky. So even though you are now gone, your soul will never be, for I take it everywhere I go, it is wild and it is free. Written by Valerie Hein, on November 1, 2011. In memory of Benjamin Thomas Hein and Scott Thomas Peterson. Peace and love, Valerie
