Countries around the world are currently adopting different strategies to slow the progression of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this context, learning more about the effectiveness of the interventions available is crucial to inform policy decisions.
The IDB’s Social Protection and Health Division, through its CRITERIA Network, is organizing a series of policy dialogues to support countries in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region to face the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. This topic will be approached from three angles: experiences of countries that have stood out for having achieved positive results in managing the epidemic; interventions that work to slow the spread of the epidemic; and current perspectives on treatments, diagnostics and vaccines.
In this context, we invite you to learn more about “what works” to slow the spread of COVID-19, with Prof. Joshua Sharfstein, Vice Dean of Public Health Practice and Community Engagement at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Prof. Sharfstein will share information on the effectiveness of non-pharmaceutical interventions, recommended measures for low- and middle-income countries, and what to prioritize in contexts of limited resources and frail economies.
