Dialogue Edit - Sound Design - Foley - Atmos - Dubbing Mix
The story revolves around a teenager's failing relationship with his father resulting in excessive partying and rebellion to escape.
Sound Design - The soundtrack was designed to give a division between reality and the feelings about his father swimming around in his head. I designed layers of ghostly, shimmering wind intending to bring the audience into his thoughts, nothing too disturbing but enough to show a conflict inside. I also composed some more musical elements to the design for one scene, again keeping in touch with the wind-like timbre used elsewhere.
Dialogue Edit - A difficult shoot for the sound recordist with a lot of spontaneous acting and off-the-cuff camera movements, this resulted in quite a bit of the dialogue needing some TLC. A particularly troublesome intimate conversation scene had a constant drizzle of rain on some plastic sheeting directly behind the actors, interfering with the higher frequencies of their lines. Between takes this drizzle would vary in intensity so causing inconsistencies between cuts. Was a difficult scene to tackle but i was pleased with the final results.
Atmosphere's - All atmos from my own personal sound library which slotted in nicely to most scenes. I designed some backgrounds to help coincide with the dialogue where the main character is answering his mobile phone outside a party but complains he can't hear his sister on the other end. Here I brought in some party-goers crashing out the backdoor with laughter and music cutting through to make the line work in context.
A scene in a park involves loud shouting and running from the actors, so to compliment the action I introduced honking ducks and geese alongside wind in the reeds increase which calmed as the actors settled into a quieter conversation.
