On March 8th 2012, the students of Eddy de Seranno’s Sustainable Development class at HZ University visited two projects sites of the LoCaRe: AlgaeLink and the Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant.
The first location was AlgaeLink, a global leader in algae growing technology, including downstream processes in harvesting and extraction. The second location was the Pilot Plant, a fascinating plant that can perform the entire value chain in a single plant, from the biomass green resource up to the final bioproduct.
Accompanying these students were delegates from the LoCaRe. During the trip, some of the students of the class were assigned to interview them about their experiences at these project sites and their perspectives on sustainability.
For the students, this opportunity was amazing because it allowed them to get a first-hand look at innovative sustainable projects currently in progress. After all, there is only so much you can learn from a textbook.
This video was created to document the entire excursion.
Special thanks Eddy de Seranno and Margot Verhaagen for organizing the event and supervising the students. Thanks to AlgaeLink and the Europe Based Pilot Plant for giving up their precious time to educate the students and provide a tour of their facilities.
