Public transportation serves many people in the metro area. It provides more than just a ride to one’s destination. For many low-income transit users, being able to get around means more job opportunities. A report released by Valley Metro provides the results of a recent transit user survey in the Phoenix area. The report shows that of the people surveyed, over one third of their trips either start or end at work. Though the transit system helps many people survive, it can also be very limiting. Cronkite News reporter Emily Johnson takes us on a ride with one valley resident who relies on the transit system daily.
