Virus-tableaux vivant, 2004, Italy, colours, 3’33” ed 7 + 2ap
The performance Virus-Tableaux Vivant has been conceived for the Milan Flash Art Fair in the hotel and its rooms. LIUBA took a bath in a tub full of foam spotted by red dots, while people lined up to see her. The environmental performance has been realized with the VIRUS video-installation in the bathroom and red dots all over the walls.
Virus Tableaux Vivant investigates, in an ironical way, the merchandising of women’s body, covered with red dots and metaphorically sold. The work uses the bathroom, the tub, and the idea of spying or intrusion into a private space. This time the purchase virus has spread infecting the whole environment and the body of LIUBA, an ironic simulacrum of sale and purchase on the person, the female body.
