This is a short documentary that some classmates and I made for a class assignment last semester. We go to Laney College in Oakland CA. It is about women of color in the bay area, how far we have come and what we need to do in order to progress.
I was the camera woman and editor. This started out being a class project but ended up being my baby. I have had only a little bit of experience editing before we made this documentary and now I know a whole lot more. Only one person in our group knew how to edit so it was one of those things were I get push into the deep end and it's either sink or swim, and I swam!
I think the thing that I like most about it is the opinions my team and I got from the smart people that we interviewed. They are young and very accomplished people, two of them are professors before they turned 35! Dereca Blackmon is a woman who runs a workshop called "who you callin a bitch" and she is a founder of Aya solutions in Oakland. Enjoy!
